Hello. We went for a ride the other day and the bike was running lovely. Got back and switched the engine off. Went to move it and the bike switches the electrics on but nothing else happens when I try to start it. Nothing tries to rub or anything. Apart from the oil light that flashes when I push the button. Is it a safety fault? A faulty wire? I have put a fully charged new battery in and checked the regulator. I am stumped. Please help.

it's either, the kill switch, the clutch switch, or the sidestand switch, or the neutral switch, or the little starter solenoid wire that corrodes.
as it does that, when it thinks it's still in gear.

Hi, mine was like that so I have changed the neutral switch, sidestand switch and clutch switch and was still the same would only start with clutch pulled in, I have since changed the diode in loom under tank still the same so I bridged the sidestand wiring under tank so bike will not cut out if I use sidestand when in neutral but still have to pull clutch in to start the bike then its fine so its not that much of a problem. My bike had had a new ignition switch on it so checked wiring there and on solenoid all was fine so now I think it could be the main relay under side panel not working properly and bike thinks its in gear ( as above post) hence pulling clutch in to start. Will yours start with the clutch pulled in if so it could be the same.
