Hi. I recently bought a 1995 D9 to use for commuting and general use. Shortly after I got the bike I noticed some juddering under braking from the front end. As the bike had been used as a M25 commuter in all weathers by the previous owner, I had the discs(near the limit), pads, front wheel bearings, head bearings and fork seals(one started to weep slightly) replaced. The bike does handle much better but there is still some slight juddering under braking. I've not touched the calipers as they looked ok. Could the brakes be binding slightly or could the new pads be slipping on the new discs. I've used Koyo pattern discs and ebc pads. Oh and it has a brand new front tyre. Apart from that the bike runs well, could do with some cosmetic work. Paint mostly and some strategically placed rubber grommets for the vibrating plastics. Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Thanks Tim

How about the steering head bearings? Just a thought.

If disks not warped and pads not sticking, wheel balanced and wheel bearings good then steering head bearings would be next to check.
Callipers do get a bit sticky if not cleaned and serviced and can cause a bit of juddering.

Of course, it could be just the excitement . . . .

Hi Thanks for the replies. Head bearings have been replaced. I'll service the calipers when I get time. Don't need the bike for work just yet, I have a couple of others to use for now.
I wouldn't call it excitement more bewilderment

Might be an idea to have the pads out and if not already lightly coated on their backs with some copperight grease , obviously making sure it doesn't get on the pads ,may help, just an idea but obviously the cleaning will help too.

More than likely it'll be the calipers. The grooves where the seals fit get full of white alloy corrosion and so tend to push the seals out, thus binding on the pistons and not letting them retract properly.

Back to the juddering problem. Calipers have been cleaned and fitted with new seals etc. But the there is still a intermittent juddering under braking. At different spends and brake pressure. It will brake normally then for no apparent reason it judders again. Starting to think I should have saved my money on caliper service kits and upgraded to blue spots. The brake lines need replacing anyway as they look very used. Could this cause a problem?
Sorry I've not got back to this sooner been away.
Cheers Tim
