Went to take the bike out yesterday and pressed the starter switch only to hear a click from under the seat, flat battery thought I, charged it up for an hour or so, 12.99v in the battery still only a click! A mate came round suggested that I select a gear and move the rear wheel, which I did, heard a buzzing clicking sound from somewhere at the front of the engine and hey presto press the switch and it started, today same scenario, any ideas? time for a new starter motor? all help thankfully received...

Try replacing the brushes first - much cheaper option !!
Fairly easy to get to as long as you remember where everything goes back !

Had the same trouble with my old Mondeo. Called out the RAC (well if you've paid the money - use them) and the guy duly arrived, inspected the problem, and twatted it with a hammer! Worked perfectly until the day I sold it. ;D
This is a recollection of an event and should not be relied on, or used as a basis for any future repair. I can not be held responsible blah, blah, blah.........................

had the same problem myself last year, ended up stripping it down & gave it a good clean out & pushed the springs in a little to tighten to bushes against the rotor, bingo (touchwood) not had any trouble since. but if your after a starter motor there are a few on ebay at the moment.
