On my son's 600 there is a very small 'mist' of oil on the offside fins just where and around the area the block meets the head. Offside front corner. I am assuming a slight leak in the head gasket?
It's slight and over time but could be a sign of the gasket giving way. (maybe)
Is this normal - a known issue?
I am wondering if a tweak to the head bolts would be sufficient before I go about changing the head gasket.
Anyone been there before me!
Regards
David

Is it the later model with the oil cooler? Could be that that's leaking a bit - how about a pic of the misted area?

It's the earlier model. No cooler.
We've cleaned it up so no pic I'm afraid, even then it was just a misting of oil but certainly oil.
Thanks for replying

According to another forum - American one - there are a couple of rubber seals on the RHS heqd studs that can cause a leak around the area I described.
So, maybe a winter project to replace the head gasket and those seals.
Looking at the Wemoto site they list a couple of gasket sets for the top of the engine but they are about £100 a set.
Anyone have any recommendations for a gasket set cylinder head upwards?
Thanks

You sure they're not on about the valve cover gasket and studs? No, I think it is the front one of the two oil seals just blowing past the gasket a bit. No problem with the odd bit of oil mist coming outwards in that area but what I don't know is how much is going inwards. No exhaust smoke so maybe not too bad but worth having a go at over the winter. Thanks
