Hello. I have a 1995 xj900 s that I need to replace the carb rubber joints to the head. the bike doesn't run right. It cuts out and sounds horrid. I don't see any leaks but they have rubber solution on them but are very loose now. I've looked everywhere I can online and cannot find them cheaper than about 60 each and needing 4 it is expensive. So do anyone on here have any spare I could buy or know of anywhere I can get some cheaper. I don't want to scrap the bike but with the cost of them it'll be easier and cheaper just to buy a hole bike. I already have other work to do to it so the cost is just mounting up. The parts for the 80s model is. Heaper than the 95 which I don't understand haha. Please if you can help let me know.

They are too pricey, it's true. Good luck with your quest for good secondhand ones, though I'm doubtful you'll have much joy as I don't think I've ever seen 'em on Ebay & the like .

i did find a set on ebay but its for the 1990 model which my heart sank when i saw it, i love the bike, just wish there was nothign wrong with inlet joints. its just the rubbers that are corroded so ive heard you can fix with inner tube and rubber solution stuff, was thinking aboiut giving it shot... shame i cant bodge xj600 rubbers on as they are like £30 set of 4 ... thanks for your reply though, i have to find fairings for it aswell because previous owner turned it into a street fighter.
just had a thought, i might sound a bit dumb here but it looks like there is a metal joint with about an inch rubber ontop connecting the carb to the metal joint, can i n ot just replace that rubber bit with another ifi can find it and not the hole joint? i am kinda thinking it has the wrong joint all together though, as ive seen them in 1 piece not 2 like mine looks. ill try and take a photo of it soon so you can see what i mean,

How about cutting the rubber off and using silicon hose to join the ends. I've never done this but if yours are as bad as suggested there's little to lose. ASH sell all sorts of silicon hoses. If it's stepped inside you could fit a smaller hose down the larger one.

That's what I was thinking. But I don't need to cut off the hose as they are loose anyway and held on with some rubber glue lol. I'm now looking into the best rubbers I can use. Was thinking about car hose or something along those lines. It's literally about an inch I need to connect the carb and joint. Then stick a screwtie on it to hold in place.... Maybe even coat inliquid gasket as well for extra security. Anything is worth a try before shelling out 240 for the 4 joints

Look on the ASH website www.autosiliconehoses.comBiggest snag is silicone rubber is softer than rubbers normally used on carb intakes. It could bd too floppy or just slide off the old stub. You could maybe get hose go sleeve over the whole of the old rubbers. Come to think of it, wrapping the intake hoses with self amalgamating tape might work just as well
