hi
I have just purchased a 1994 900 divvy and am in the process of doing a full strip to clean it up. I have removed the motor for powdercoating but seem to have a problem removing the gear cluster. There is a cast steel bearing holder on the one end and having removed the bolts it is not budging. Is there anything special needed to get it out or is it simply a tight fit.I do not want to go hammering at it and break something.
edit..could someone tell me what the nozzle assemblies under the barrels are for and how to get them out.
I will post up a few pics in the build area once I,m underway.i already have the frame and swingarm powdercoated.
cheers for any replies

ok I heated the casing up all round the casting and very gently tapped it out. took a while.
could still do with knowing what these nozzles in the top casing under the barrels do tho

Don't know, sorry . Got a Haynes manual to hand? Or post a pic of your 'nozzles' & we can play 'guess the function' !

Is it the AIS tubes you're talking about ? Some plug them off and remove all that gubbins from under the fairing.
AIS is for emissions but don't mean anything here and can be removed.

nope nothing to do with the AIS. threw all that in the bin.
if you remove the barrels and look below them at the crank there are 2 bars sticking up fixed to the crankcase.microfiche states they are nozzles of some kind but not sure as to the function.need to remove them to glassblast the casings for powdercoating.

Just a shot in the dark - are they something to do with the oil circulation system ? (I'm imagining a spray of oil onto the crank or some-such, but I've no "inside knowledge")

The nozzles might be to spray oil up the piston undersides. eBay almost certainly has the Yamaha service manual on CD. Full copyright naturally.
