yea, TJ was right (should i admit that?!), it wasn't until i removed the whole thing, i could see the hairline crack behind. so far, a rubber washer on top of the copper one, a yard or so of insulation tape around the hex boss, then some cloth wrapped around the hex & clamped with a jubilee clip, has stopped any leakage for now... which will at least give me some time to decide on removing the thing altogether. i like ironbloke's elegant solution here so think i'll go with that. I'd ideally like to find a way of securing a hose without cutting off the banjos, but not sure how realistic that is

Pah, where's the *smug* smiley Seriously, at least you've found it and can now consider your options.

5 am post ? Was the very thought stopping you sleeping ? I was in the car & heading towards Canterbury by 4:45am, so no, it wasn't a 5am post and you flatter yourself that I lie awake at nights thinking of you .

The 900 almost certainly benefits but the 600 is fine sans cooler.
Top tip with the jubilee clip. Crank it up tight before screwing in the banjo bolt.
