Hi folks, am I right in thinking the crankcase breather pipe, the pipe near the clutch pivot link (?) on the o/s of the bike, plugs in to the airbox, just above the fuel supply pipe?

Assuming you're referring to the 900 Diversion, the two breather pipes near the clutch pivot plug into the nearside areas of the air box and the fuel tank. They're each about one cm wide. The crankcase breather attaches between the middle of the air box - close to the fuel feed to the carbs - and the engine gearchange cover on the nearside. This pipe is between 1/2 and 3/4 inch wide (just checked the bike over). If it's the 600, someone else will be along to help.

Sorry should have clarified that, my bike is 97 diversion 600. Just realised this when checking over your intro post. Oh well, at least when you own a 900 you'll know where the breathers go!

yes that's the one,1/2 diameter clear armoured hose is the best to use , you can see when its full of nasty stuff and just replace it.

Cheers, mine was just hanging by the back wheel from the crankcase. There was a small pipe from the air box hole which I believe is the fuel tank breather hose on the n/s/r of the fuel tank as there is a nipple there but no hose on it. Seem to be finding a few bodge jobs on this bike, lucky it seems to run well so far!

They say a stitch in time saves nine, but I tend to (these days)adhere to the old adage if it ain't broke don't fix it. Which is hard for me as I love nothing better than a good tinker with things of the mechanical sort

The main breather runs from top of gearbox to air box. Standard pipe is a bit small bore but some reinforced garden hose does the job. Short journeys can gunk it up leading to oil dripping out of airbox drain pipes.
