Been charging up some of the bikes, I like to do it every couple of months, only this time the Breva one seems to have died, I have done the usual tricks, of dropping the battery onto a concrete, spiking it with 24v and drop testing it, to bring it back to life, it's back on the charger, but I am not hopeful, Why is it that the Breva battery only lasts a month before its flat, yet other bikes last ages, for instance the fazer 1000 started after 3 months, without charging the battery, the R100RT, the same as the old Guzzi's will last a couple of months and more, even though the RT has an old fashioned clock, and still start, canbus electrics just seem a PIA edit, it seems to be taking a charge now!

I left work with one bar on the charger,
Earlier it would quickly get up to full bars, but switching the bike on would draw enough power that the starter wouldn't even click, hopefully in the morning it will be back to normal!

Brothers Breva 750 has the same battery problem, through lack of maintenance and tardiness of care, you notice how mine was an unfortunate situation, where as his was lack of maintenance etc anyhow same symptoms, battery shows charged but won't give any real juice, so, drop on concrete, which again didn't work, a few seconds blast with 24v several times, and viola it now seems to be taking a charge!

Classic symptoms - classic solution. Big (ish) twin needs a good turning current which sulphated battery can't deliver - although ancilliaries work fine. Knock some of the sulphate off and surprise the battery a bit and all will be well for a while

I found out why the convert always starts, it has a 32amp car battery fitted, it's huge, the bmw's manage with a 20amp, and the Breva is even smaller than that!

Italian electrics. Nuff said.:-) It stuns me that given an Italian discovered electricity, they seem unable to make it work. Seven years of Fiat ownership bears testimony to that.

In Italy they use free range electrics, non of that battery reared stuff!
