I have reluctantly decided that it is too far to ride for such a short stay, (and have let the B&B know accordingly)especially as I am still waiting for the referral for an echo cardiogram and what that may reveal .

You can't spend your life worrying about your health, it'll only make you worse. Believe me, I know.
If you feel up to it just go for it.

No I don't spend too much time worrying about it, but the reality is i have had some quite extensive ticker plumbing and reengineering done, not to mention various meds needed constantly under review and whilst that has some determining factors in living things to the full, there is also a tendency to think one can do things that you used to be able to do. Sailing racing dinghies and biking being major passions , largely enjoyed to the fullest possible, with occasional glitches. This has been an ongoing situation over nye on two decades so I honestly feel grateful to be around still. On the practical side of things it is a heck of a long way from here,to go on the run, followed by another longish ride and then the return journey at a time of year when the weather can turn nasty. On the other hand judging by a brief ride on the Divvy today the machine seems more than capable just me I have doubts about. Sorrow to hear of your own health worries incidentally.

I don't have health worries, I'm in denial. It just catches up on me from time to time. Damned depressing when it does. You could always extend the weekend or have a leisurely ride up Friday. Take your time about it, the run and company will probably be as good as a break. There's nothing like an adventure. Though I'm sure a more local run will present itself this year, you could always organise one in the land of the fake tan and white leopard print* stilettos. *fashion marches on.
