I need a set of 110/80-17 and 130/70-18 tyres for my lad's 1995 D6S.
I see Contis, BT45s recommended.
My main criteria is grip in both dry and wet. Mileage is important but not at the expense of grip.
What's the latest thinking please?
Thanks

I had Avon Roadriders on mine, never an issue with grip wet or dry, sold the bike before they needed changing so can't comment on wear.
However some riders seem to hate them and call them Roadsliders!

Roadriders are competitively priced against some others. ?? How good are they really? Ukdiceman - you liked yours so can't be all bad!

I used BT45s on my D6. They did the job most of the time, but they got a little twitchy if they started to square off.
Should be okay if you like making the most of your rubber but as most of my commute is dual carriageway mine would square off quite quickly.

Seems with the Avons it's love or hate.
Hhhm. A couple of very experienced Divvy riders saying aok.
Think I'll go see a dealer and see what they say as well.
Michelin Pilot Activs??
Appreciate the feedback. Thanks

I've got Dunlop Arrowmax on the back of my D6. It's the second one I've had fitted this year and the first must have done 7 or 8k at the least before being a bit too squared off (although perfectly legal). Cheap too £80 fitted from Protyre. Mind you I am not a particularly spirited rider, 100 miles a day commute up and down the M5.

I know they've been around for years but its bridgestones for me. If you ride all year round rain or shine they're the best. Wet winter weather grip is just so sure. If I had to pick one fault with bridgestones its that they do square off quite easily. Once the square gets a hold they will twitch a tad! If your bike is a summer plaything they may not be best. They may not suit long motorway miles either ie squaring. Having said all that my other D6 which only goes out in the better weather came with Pirelli MT75's and I have to say the grip and roadholding was really superb. Also, although they only lasted about 1500 miles ( they were not new when I bought the bike) the grip and roadholding did not deteriorate, even with the back barely legal! The best surprise was that they didn't square off at all! Even though the back was very neat shot the profile was still round. These tyres as now sadly not available. In their place are Pirelli sport demons! On a feckin' Divvy! Not ridden them yet, giving the bike a proper thorough polish! I'll post a review on them once scrubbed in!!

I was impressed with Maxxis SuperMax the front lasted two back tyres. The back wore with minimal squaring off so cornering ability must have been pretty good. .

I once tried a set of Avon road sliders sorry road riders. For me they were the worst tyre I have ever ridden on any motorcycle. No feel, no grip, and very slow and hard to turn in. I wouldn't consider myself to be a hard rider but when the back lets loose in the bone dry something is not right. They also proved annoyingly long lived. I persevered for 6k but enough was enough. Replaced with good old 45's. the first ride on the 45's she felt so light up front and turned so quick I actually thought I'd put something back together wrong!! 45's are awesome on the old D6!
