I decided to replace my 900 shock and get the swing arm blasted and resprayed at the same time. So, I left the bike with a mate who is basically a bike nut / spray painter (as I didn't have reapers excellent DVD at the time and didn't realise that I could probably do it myself).
Anyway, I popped in to see how he was getting on and took the opportunity of inspecting the swing arm bearings. They are the "wheel bearing" type sealed units although I see on the DVD that taper bearings are used on the 900. Does this mean that mine have been replaced at some time?
The good news is that there was no rust on any of the shock mounts, or anywhere to be honest, and all the important linkages were well greased up so it looks like the guy who sold me the bike was spot on with regards to regular maintenance. The strange thing is that the bloke who actually serviced the bike for the past 16 years couldn't remember ever changing the bearings so maybe they are original?
Any ideas chaps/chapesses?

Hmmm. Good question. Certainly the two D9's of mine where I took the swingarm out both had the needle roller bearings, not balls!
