Hi
1994 600s.
When left for a week or two it takes some cranking over before it will fire.
I have to use full choke and when it eventually fires it does so on one, two and finally all four cylinders,
For a littel while any throttle kills the motor.
After a few moments I can finally slowly reduce choke and it runs fine.
It's as if the fuel has evaporated from the carbs. If run every day or so all is fine.
Maybe a standard Divvy issue but not to me!! Any ideas?
Thanks
David

If not used at least every few days, I'd usually have to turn the fuel tap to 'prime' for a couple of minutes before cranking, to fill the float bowls, or I'd risk flattening the battery waiting for the fuel to make its way.

Ah so...lol
It can't be normal though surely? Not as they came out of the factory 'normal'
It's not a big issue as it starts, just annoying.

I guess that's true, but is there a fix? (Short of some really complicated fiddling with the carbs that is!)

Cold engine / hot engine - I don't think you can do much for the time it needs on choke. But maybe fitting a new fuel tap diaphragm will improve the initial fuel delivery: www.wemoto.com/bikes/yamaha/xj_600_s_diversion/93-94/picture/fuel_tap_repair_kit/.......... if not, at least you'll have distracted yourself with fettling it for a while, taken your mind off the problem . Actually, you have an alternative. Use the Divvy more often & abandon the BM & DL .

As winter arrives I might just use it more than the others as you suggest.
Thanks for the tip

My Kwak Megabus GTR1000 is exactly the same. I blame modern petrol, some bikes have to have it fresh, some aren't bothered. KLR250 - leave it a couple of days and it wouldn't start without draining the carb. NX650 Honda, a week. Honda NTV650 didn't care. Div 900 doesn't mind what it's got.
With the fussy bikes I found the easiest answer was to switch the fuel off just before you get home and let the carbs run dry.
