Somewhere in another thread I posted about putting relays and a decent thick cable to power the headlights and bypass all the switchgear. I managed to try it in the dark last night and what an improvement! For the first time in ages I haven't been nervous about riding at night on country lanes.

You will be - now you will see that the lanes are covered not only in cowpats which you see in the daytime, but also badgers, rabbits, deer, cats, hedgehogs - any of which can have serious consequences.
I did my headlight recently too - yes it makes a big difference with a good clean wire not going through 4 or 5 connectors between the fuse and the bulb. Before that my headlight was like the 40 watt bulb in Grannies front room which didn't make it lighter, just yellower.

Check your headlight lens hasn't been scoured with roadsalt and is difusing the beam.
