Just finished watching "American werewolf in London", one of my all time fav films ;D Reading the notes (sad git) it gives the name of the village in Wales where they filmed the scenes at "The Slaughtered Lamb" in "East Proctor". Its actually a little village called Crickadarn" not far from Buith Wells.... www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=305000&y=245000&z=5&sv=305000,245000&st=4&ar=N&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf&dn=821&ax=308500&ay=242500 Its now on my List of places to visit Adbru

Another tour could be the Wicker Man tour. believe most of that was filmed in the southwest of Scotland. The Wicker Mans legs are still sticking out of the ground in a caravan site in the Isle of Whithorn, curoiusly not an island.

I occasionally see 'parking suspension' notices near where I work. The reason on them is for filming. Not managed to catch any films/tv shows being filmed except for the Oasis video for 'Little by little' that was partly filmed round the back of Marks and Spencer near Moorgate tube station. But these are just regular streets so nothing much worth seeing.
Know what you mean about the imdb website, takes the fun out of it. I looked up 'Mission Impossible' as it had a couple of scenes in and around Liverpool St Station. Where a telephone scene was filmed is now a bunch of cash machines.

Have seen several film crews in my home town of Thame over past couple of months. They're making episodes of "Midsomer Murders". The local Oxfam was transformed into an antiques shop. Strange really 'cos there's about 3 antique shops they could have used.

Midsomer Norton... Isn't that an old Brit bike in summertime?
The Princess Bride was filmed in the Derbyshire Peak district. If you're a local, Haddon Hall and Winnats Pass are easy to spot. It was a low budget film so quite likely other scenes were shot nearby.
I'd like to visit the locations used on Shrek. That castle looks way cool :-)

I've biked up to where they dumped the mini's out of the bus and the motorway between Ivrea and Turin where they drove the minis into the bus. Will get around to pulling the pix off my old laptop.

Local Hero: the white church is just beside the Road to the Isles from Ft William to Mallaig. (And just as an aside, for those who know the road, go ahead has been given to upgrade the last stretch of single track road from Inchcailloch to Arisaig!)
Fulton Mackay's shack in the same film was built on Camusdarach Beach just outside Arisaig.
Ride safe,
Tommy.

On the subject of Scotland, and the Highlands in particular: Would it be legal to ride the Corrieyairack Pass on a trail bike? I backpacked it years ago and it was very hard going. Often wondered if it would be legal to take a bike up there!

I once sailed from Northern Ireland to Plockton via the Outer Hebrides. Nice place, great beer in the pub too. Scotland dwellers just have no idea how lucky they are.

Might be a bit hairy in winter ,though! A good challenge! Charlie

I've also done alot of climbing on Skye especially the Cuillins. Great atmosphere, views and quite alpine in nature. The only down side around this area is the midgies which seem to arrive earlier and stay longer each year. Cuillins for sale: tinyurl.com/3y8kyn
