After sorting out why my Scottoiler wasn't working (user error!) I took off the cheap nasty Yamaha rear hugger 'cos it's bust at one of the mount points. Was a bit disappointed to see the state of the swingarm, where it'd been hidden by the hugger : Seems a bit poor for a 4 year old bike with less than 20K miles on the clock . Recommendations for a decent hugger appreciated - the OE Yamaha one is really poor quality.

Wow! Mine didn't look like that I agree that the OE Hugger is crap, so I sold the bike

Mine is showing hints of similar failings in that area. I was confused by your description of the plastic bit as a "hugger" though. It struck me as a cr@ppy piece of plastic that didn't warrant a proper name . In the end it is the swinging arm that is rusty so that's what needs immediate attention (of course). They don't make divvies like they used to....but they also don't go like they used to. That is a good thing . Grum.

Err how many D900 swinging arms have you seen wot aint bin touched up Neil My buddy at work's D900 centre stand is made from welds and formed metal - with next to no parts of it surviving from the original part! I stripped and painted the swinging arm on my old XJ600 due to rot, and the centre stand. The centre stand on the new one is getting a little tatty and the exhaust box is a bit ugly as well. I have a 9 year old Focus in better condition . Grum.
