Hi, I am in the market to replace my Caberg Konda Flip front helmet. Can any off you fine people give a personnel recommendation for a particular replacement? And maybe give a warts and all review of the flip fronts you use. At the moment I am looking at the Caburg Duke, the Nolan 104 and the Schuberth C3, I have budget of £400.

I have a Shoei Multitec which is great. I have bought Cabergs in the past but they have all leaked water down the inside of visor. The Shoei is very comfortable and can be bought for around £200 if you look hard enough, I bought mine at last years BMF for under £200 complete with pinlock.

I have a Caberge sinasi, pretty good helmet, it replaced a schuberth C2, I like the fact that you can lift the front and lock it in the up position!

Love the N-104 with the Bluetooth module in it. Good luck trying to find a dealer who has one to try it on for size tho' :/
The venting is so good on it that it can get a bit chilly in the winter.

But why?, in your opinion, what makes this better than the others. Thanks Neil, I really like the inbuilt sun visor on my Caberg, so am looking for a replacement helmet with one, that's why i haven't really looked at the Shoei and so far i haven't found its replacement the Shoei Neotec within my budget. But never say never, i may try it on, and find that its the one that fits and feels the best. Thank you to those who have spent time and posted a reply, i look forward to hearing more views on which helmet you find best and why.

To add Dave,
Having got Jane the N-44, In hindsight, that helmet may have been a better purchase for myself also. Visor the size of a goldfish bowl, they are seriously light and have styling that is a cross between an Enduro helmet and an open face, with chinbar, internal visor and N-com compatibility. They feel slightly different compared to a flip, Jane loves hers.
Nolan above any manufacturer seem to tweak their flip helmet design every year, the N-10# range has been going through an evolution over the past 15 years and the difference between the N-103 to N-104 was a vast improvement in many areas - they've amended the design between my 2013 model and this year's making what is a brilliant helmet even better you'd like to think. To clarify, saying maybe I should have got the N-44 has more to do with getting the XT - the lack of mass would be a bonus off-road, but I'm still seriously pleased with the N-104.
The ongoing development is another reason to give them a try before committing. The flip helmet is a major part of their range - they are Italian, so you'd expect their home market to ride around with the flip up most of the time to look cool riding around Roma etc. They have Schuberth build quality and price wise sit between them and Caberg - but feel much more solid than Cabergs do.
The Nolan N104 ticked all the boxes for me, comfort, N-Com, sun-visor, dual homologation (legal to ride flip-up) excellent quality build, pin-lock, wide field of vision and reasonable weight that feels lighter/smaller than my previous N-103 all at a reasonable price.
Hope that helped a bit more.

Neil
Thanks for the info, I stopped off on the way home and tried on both the C3 and the Neotec both very good, strangely the medium in the Neotec fitted better than the large, and I needed the large in the C3, both felt very good and comfortable on, I just need to track down a Nolan now. Or maybe somebody will suggest something else.

I have tried a few but none as quiet and comfortable as the C3. It's also very good in the wet in keeping the visor clear.
Would buy another tomorrow despite the price.

Deal done helmet bought, I found a dealer that had a Nolan today and tried it on. After spending the best part of an hour putting on and taking off, walking round and trying to pull off 3 different helmets I narrowed it down to 2. Then after having both helmets on and testing visors, sunshades, neck straps and flip functions I couldn't work out why one was £100 more than the best deal I could get with the other. So I am now the proud owner of a
Schuberth c3

I recently fancied a flip front helmet, so bought a HJC RPHA(i think) Max as i seem to have a head that fits them (long and narrow, not round)
Well impressed with it! It is far quieter than my full face (HJC IS16) and is really nice quality! Has an internal sun visor and nice lining. I think an important area to look at in flip fronts is whether its tested as a full face or a open face, also on impact will the front flip open or not?
The government sharp ratings seem to list the % the helmets opened when in a crash test. (Although i've read on other forums that the rest of the sharp tests shouldn't be read too deeply.
Did fancy a Schuberth C3 as my dad has one.. but they're a bit pricey for me. Found the HJC one at about £250.
