Hi all, I'm looking for any advice about the above. Mainly, any nuisance or inconveniences. I need to get some luggage on a bike & the bike itself isn't very modern so few options exist. Ventura apparently do the Ventura arms for it, so I could use that system. Also, if you have more than one bike using the Ventura system, are the spaces between the two arms the same, on different bikes? IE, can you just buy the arms for each bike & only one sports rack or bigger rack? This isn't clear from their website so I thought I'd ask in case anyone here knows - better to have personal advice from a user than a sales person's advice, I reckon. If no one knows, I'll have to trust whatever the sales person tells me . TIA, Martin.

I have looked at ventura my self & same thought occurred its a bit pricey though but it would leave grab handles on the MT03 which I like.

Should I be prepping the D6? Better than last year ? Unfair, I had no warning, it would be required. Mind ewe, with the escapades we usually have I should have known better. To be fair, after the Tomcat stop she performed faultlessly all weekend.

To be fair, after the Tomcat stop she performed faultlessly all weekend. It's all true ......... & she may even have contributed to Fiasco getting his current D6 ride, after his little play on her .

AFAIK the Ventura racks are universal so the arms must be the same width. I know one rider who had Ventura arms on a Z1000 and an R1 but only one rack (she also had the grab handle option) and these were interchangeable. Main drawback as I see it is lack of security (but no worse than soft panniers) and they're not waterproof so you have to pack everything in poly bags (As Carol discovered !)

Just spoke to a real person, as my email got ignored. For my two bikes, I would need separate racks for each bike (either Pack Rack or Sports Rack) because the arms are not the same width - so not a cheap option for me . All I'd get to share between the bikes would be the actual soft luggage bag(s). ......... at least if I order for the older of the two bikes, it's made-to-order so I can choose black or chrome .......... he says, desperately trying to put a brave face on it .

This stuff looks interesting, as I'm looking for a luggage system for my FZ6, and looking at the pictures on the web site the L arms would provide support for a pair of soft panniers maybe?

looking at the pictures on the web site the L arms would provide support for a pair of soft panniers maybe? I don't agree - the L brackets sit as high as possible, tucked up along the seat, for neatness. Soft panniers really benefit from something to attach the lower part of the panniers to, to stop 'em flapping about. (The softies on my XJ6 have proper metal supports, big loops if you like, to stop them rubbing on paintwork or flapping about in the gentle breeze produced as I sedately meander about the countryside.)

Which bike are you talking about fitting the Ventura to? I fancied 'em on the TRX & the CB750. I've ordered a pair of L brackets for the TRX ('cos they were half price on Ebay ). I think the sports rack will suit it & it'll mean I can ditch the rucksack I use on that. Being removable, I think it's a neater solution than a Renntec rack. I was hoping I could 'share' the other metal work between the bikes - shame it ain't so. Trying to find luggage / racks for the CB750F(B) has proved fruitless to date, except for the Ventura system.

Does that mean the cb750 is on the road? Sure is . I refitted the carbs on Saturday after a good clean & she fired-up on all four, ticks over nicely, revs freely. Not actually road-tested yet though - hopefully at the weekend. That will show if she bogs down under load or stutters onto 3 pots, which was the main reason she's been laid up in the shed. ............ the poor old gal is currently running on fuel syphoned from the VT500E so I'll treat her to some fresh if she makes it to the petrol station .

Original air box or magic pod filter suspend system? You going to ride it far, like Scotland for instance?

Original air box or magic pod filter suspend system? Neither - just took everything off & started afresh & got the carbs mounted well. You going to ride it far, like Scotland for instance? Maybe have a go - of course I only actually have to get it as far as Lincolnshire . Or maybe Thornton Cleveley .

Bought a ventura rack for my fiancé and we both think it is excellent. The fitting kit was very well thought out and the arms are discreet on the bike. She likes not having the sports rack on there all the time and has the grab rail attachment also. The rack itself does fit a variety of models but as you have found there are a handful of varieties of rack.
With the pack racks you don't get the full security of a hard case but being able to pull it off and it become your day bag is useful.
I already have a wingrqck on the xj and a Givi rack on the sv640 but if buying again I'd go for the ventura.

OK - glad that's been cleared up ! I was considering buying a pair of arms for the Versys, thinking that I could 'nick' (*) Carol's rack (#) and bag from time to time - but now it appears they MAY not fit so I'll have to check with Ventura before parting with any hard-earned.
(*) - not in any Liverpudlian sense, you understand (#) - not THAT rack - her Ventura rack is what I mean

That's not remotely funny! It could be a very similar vehicle to what I did the January jolly on, but made in Germany and with less wheels!

You can forget about going to Scotland on a Marauder, or at least until I have ridden it 10 miles or so. Best you get out on it & enjoy then . ........ TRX now has a Ventura sports rack on it. Trixie might yet beat the CB, as the CB is still sans-luggage. Unless both fail the job interview as I choose the XJ6 for it's general equipment, features, comfort, power, & all-round shiny newness .

After all the time spent cleaning & refitting 'em, I'm a bit miffed . ............ on the other hand, I think I've found some luggage for the old gal .
