Sorry peeps - this is about my car's tyres.
I need 2 new front.
Phones Kwik-Fit for prices for Goodyear Eagle F1's, 225/45/R17/W. Quoted £135 each. Total £270
Phones Gates Tyres in Carlisle, about 95 miles away, quoted £86 each. Total £172
Phones Kwik-fit and mentiones Gates Tyres price, answer - No problem , we can match that.
£100 saved for the sakes of 2 phone calls.
How on earth can they justify selling a £135 tyre for £86 or are they just hugely inflating ( pardon the pun) the price in the first place.
Any tyre experts out there ??

I considered looking at VWs when I bought the Volvo but the dodgy VW salesmen put me off.

Probably too late but I'd say dont bother with F1s. I found them very noisy on an Audi and regretted not getting Bridgestone Potenzas as originally fitted.

That's interesting.
One of the reasons for going for the F1's was that there was quite a lot of feedback from various sites and users saying that the F1's were fairly quiet, especially compared to the standard Pirelli P6000s fitted to the S60
Was the Audi an A4 by any chance as they have a rep for being very hard and can be a bit noisy

Yep! It was a 52 A4 TDI 140 Avant Sport with all the bo**ox. Loved it but it went when the divorce kicked off. I'm now a student and dont own a car though I do miss the Audi. The ride was firm, but I would have never called it noisy - until I fitted F1s all around which spoilt the car. IMO the Potenzas were definitely better.
I cant compare tread life but the Bridgestones lasted about 22,000 which I think was OK bearing in mind the punchy engine and weight of the car. Funnily enough, it was front wheel drive but both ends were worn out. Audis take out the edges on the rear tyres.
