Any of you guys use Blue tooth hedsets in ya crash helmets for rider to passenger. Which one ? How do you rate it ? How much did it cost ?
I have used for many years an Autocom and may still fit it to the new steed but Loz was thinking(that usually costs me money) maybe it time to upgrade.
So would it be and upgrade and for what reasons. I can see the benefits of no cables to plug in and out every time you get on/off the bike but I don`t have to worry about is the battery charged in the head set/s.
Your thoughts please.

Scala rider. Excellent and clear conversation even at high speed. Good long battery life. Love it. Bought it second hand @ £70 never looked back.
Used the old radio type ones previous and they were proper crap.

Sena SMH-10 all the way matey. I have used it to my passenger, bike to bike, on the phone too. My brother actually rang me on my last trip up to yours and wouldn't believe I was on the M6. They are a good unit. Last ALL day without charging. Can be charged on the go. You can have music or whatever in there too. I would highly recommend them.

We have a pair of Viper full face helmets with Bluetooth built in, and we think its great. One small downside is battery life - won't last a full (long) day in constant communication without a recharge, and I can't find anyone selling spare batteries for a reasonable price (they are similar to a mobile phone battery, but not similar enough that I can find one that fits) - but if you switch it to standby and only switch it back when you have something to say the batteries last for ages. A bit of wind noise at high speed makes hearing difficult, but I don't want to listen to her when I'm making progress anyway ;-) The other risk is forgetting you have it turned on - once she was off the bike taking a photograph and I got a bit impatient and muttered some expletives about how she always takes all day to do something simple - the bruising went down after a day or two and I'm careful what I say now. They work over a fair distance, she carried her helmet into a shop whilst I was outside on the bike and I could hear both sides of the conversation inside the shop. You can link your mobile phone or MP3 player to it as well, which is nice. Unfortunately its a model you can't buy any more, and its replacement is a flip front which is much heavier, so I am keeping an eye out to see what else comes on the market, because ours could do with replacing soon (due to age, not problems with the Bluetooth).

I use a pair of BT400s (I think). £20 each off ebay.
Not the best headset in the world but I can listen to music at motorway speeds and have a phone conversation up to about 50mph.
Rider to passenger is pretty good round town... Never used it above 40 or 50 though.

You can connect bike to bike up to 4 (inc yourself). That's on top of your phone etc. You can also add in PMR radio etc if you want to go really mad but you need an adapter for that.

We've got a Scala Rider Teamset, and to be honest I am not that impressed with it. You can't really hear much above 40mph and the sound quality is always patchy. The voice-activated function has never worked properly so we have to keep it switched on all the time, so that if the mic boom drops down on the passenger helmet, you get a lot of wind noise in your ears. And it is not the most robust - heavy rain on a round-Britain ride caused it to pack up completely, although the importers repaired it very quickly.

You know the ballache we've been through with intercoms and bike to bike over the years. This works way better than anything Ive tried. The volume is amazing and crystal clear, even with earplugs in. Phone calls, music, sat nav, pillion all have independently adjustable volumes as well. Excellent piece of kit. 4hrs charge time, lasts all day and then some. Firmware upgradeable. Can charge on the go if needed. I'd recommend one hands down. Chris

He also said to tell users of the SMH20 that there is a firmware upgrade out that lets the Sena connect with other manufactures headsets, available from the Sena site. iirc, that's got to be unique atm in the BT intercom market. A good enough reason alone. Have to say Jane & I are chuffed with the Nolan B4 kit in the N104 & N44, almost as much as we are with the helmets. The only downside with the B4 is you can't plug a 2nd wired intercom headset into it anymore - so the kids have to twiddle their thumbs on the back. Audio quality is fantastic, better than the Autocom was in fact. BT kit is on the whole, is improving all the time.

Thats pretty awesome. the last update of the SMH10 added music sharing and speed dial of phone via the Jog button.. Im not sure what the max number of other units the SMH20 can pair too, I know the SMH10 is 2. However in order to listen to a 3 way conversation, you have to drop the GPS or Phone connection. On a simple two way conversation, there's no need. I seem to remember some top of the range (scala??) maybe could pair with 9 simultaneously?? if I were you Paul, Id be tempted to go with the 20, purely as its the most uptodate technology out there... Ive not checked the price out... but being a BMW owner, money of course is no obstacle

Hmmm, just done a check of the release notes for the SMH10 and this is the new spec.
features: • Bluetooth handsfree for Bluetooth mobile phones • Bluetooth stereo headset for Bluetooth audio devices such as MP3 players • Bluetooth stereo headset for Bluetooth GPS navigations • Music sharing during two-way interocm conversation • Bluetooth intercom up to 900 meters (980 yards)* • Four-way conference intercom • Intercom with non-Sena Bluetooth headsets • Three-way conference phone call with intercom participant • Multipoint Bluetooth pairing with GPS navigation or Sena SR10 two-way radio adapter • Multipoint Bluetooth for dual mobile phone • Stereo music by 3.5mm audio cable • Firmware upgradeable
So it seems you can now have a 4 way conversation and pair with other bluetooh headsets on the SMH10 as well.

Roger, Have a look at the B4 Plus kit for your Nolan. This thread prompted me to revisit the N-Com website where I discovered there was a new firmware update which now allows you to connect it to other BT intercoms now. Not only that, but there's an N-Com Android App which allows you to control/setup the intercom without having to resort to remembering the various button push combinations of the controls. Hopefully this feature will also be copied by Sena and the other manufacturers 'cos it's bloody useful. Hopefully you'll be able to find one for less than the rrp too, but I admit, if you wish to set up 2 differing type of helmets for intercom use, N-Com may not be your most economic route, albeit the best for your helmet.

The latest update for the Sena has a universal bluetooth feature so you can talk to other manufacturers headsets. Apparently at the request of some guy from Oop North who was quite irate no one was talking to him.
