So had the oil cooler in tonight so I could degrease it and give it a lick of paint but discovered a hairline crack right down and threw the threads.
Is there a specific procedure to delete the oil cooler and sandwich plate ? Or is it as simple as binning the lot and screwing a new oil filter to the block ?
Thanks for reading

As you state you need to get rid of the sandwich plate, this means that you need a shorter bolt/tube/thingummybob, (the bit the filter screws on to). You can buy a shorter one from Yam dealer, but surprise surprise, they ain't cheap. If you know an injuneering place it's not too hard a task for them to cut and shut the old one, basically just needs the thread bit the filter screws on to be short enough to allow the filter to seal properly against the housing.
Hth, Trev.
Ps, has that key turned up at Alan's?

Dunno bud haven't heard from Alan but in no rush to get it , thanks for sorting it out for me tho.
The more I've been thinking about it the more I've convinced my self to source a second hand cheap oil cooler with lines attached then cut before flexy on my sandwich plate and before flexy on oil cooler and attach the two with rubber tubbing.
That way I still get the benefits of an oil cooler and save an old oil cooler going to the dump.
If I can find what I'm looking for cheap enough that is. There's a couple of Chinese knock off 125s oil coolers with lines on eBay just now but will have a wee look at the local scrapping at the weekend to see if they have anything I could work with.

Chop off the banjo fittings and loop the pipe ends together with fluoro lined silicon hose. Better still chop the oil pipes below the flexibles and loop together.
