would the exhaust system from a 2000 plate xj600 fit my 1994 model? Cheers Yes. From 1992 to 2004 it was basically the same bike. Apart from a few minor cosmetic changes (mainly the the fairing and screen) the only real mechanical changes over the years were fitting an oil cooler, electric fuel pump and different carburetors in 1996 and fitting twin discs and larger 41mm front fork stanchions in 1998.

And the seat and the choke control, bar mounted as opposed to stuck on the frame near your left knee. I did say "real mechanical changes" but, if you're going to be pedantic in 1997 it also got fork protectors, hazard lights and a 10 amp "signal" fuse replaced the 15 amp fuse. Any advance on that

Some more changes from 1996 onwards:
Additional relays mounted under pillion rider's right buttock Bungee hooks moved from frame top rail to pillion foot peg hanger Front luggage mounting point enlarged, so bolt hole is in a different place.
