Can't seem to find a thread for this so eh oh... Posted in the pictures thread but I'll repeat it here... Fantastic day George and glorious weather to boot. Started out at 7.00 am this morning and soon began to think I'd made a mistake putting my 'air' jacket on, cursing the beebs weather forecaster, it wasn't supposed to be raining . Got just northwest of Selby and the sun came out so all was well with the world again. Good job it perked up a bit as me and my run buddy had to make a bit of 'progress' to make the start, not too bad a bit of timing was it ? Great roads, a mix of fast and twisty and after lunch a bit more of an agricultural feel. As ever, great company and a well planned route and stops made for an enjoyable day. Thanks to all, the tecs, the run leader and special thanks to my run buddy Deeps and son Matt for the company to and from the run, (oh yes, and Martin, who last I heard was heading to the east coast ) Special mention for Pops for making the effort in ever climbing temperatures, nice to see you back in the saddle bud. Trev Edit late news!!! Martin appears to be homeward bound, but he can't seem to get the hang of starting D9's without remote mechanical assistance

Never mind, put it down to experience an pay attention next time. Ps, what happened to John and Paul, never saw them at the Little Chef either?
They cut off along with me from the brewery. Ended up having another run to Devils bridge with them on our way home. Some great roads on the way to Gisburn (thanks to Brian) more great roads on the run (thanks to George) and as said great roads on the way home (thanks to the man and his PA) Thanks guys (everyone) for a great if not exhausting day. It has taken me about four and a half hours before I had the strength to go back outside and put the bike away. Keith

I would like to add my thanks for a great day out George, once north of the weather making station know as DRAX the sun came out and stayed out all day. Matt and I left home at 0645 meet up with Trev at 0730 and had a fun ride up to Gisburn, although the last bit required a little bit of making progress, hope I didn’t slow you down too much Trev. As always it’s good to meet up and also put faces to names for the first time. Thanks to those that back marked. The trip home was like a mini run of its own, having gained a straggler Trev, Martin and I headed back to Notts/Lincs via some fast and flowing roads, with Martin and I arriving at my house at around 19:45, Martin topped up with tea, left for home. After a quick shower and change of clothes it was time to leave for work, via Worksop to take Matt and a friend of his who were staying overnight before spending today at Alton Towers. I finally arrived back on base in London at midnight and was soon tucked up in bed. Thanks to my run buddies for the company to and from the main run.

Great weekend, and weather was certainly a scorcher of a weekend.
Great run weekend organised with precision timings and excellent rest stops, well done George. some good roads and excellent scenery, followed by some cracking good roads and scenery...most enjoyable.
Thanks to Martin for the company up t' motorway, to collect t'other Roger for trip to Gisburn. met up with George for a lovely trip to see Pops and down to some chippy for lunch, trip down the blackpool mile, was it packed or what!! unfortunately very little good viewing to be had here ! nice ride back to the overnight 'hotel' where we met big and little mac with mrs mac,and bob & fern, and of course our very own HRH. that first cold beer was vey welcome. breakfast = lest said best left!!
Sunday woke up to another clear blue sky and warm already, all set off for the start, temperatures already rising!!just the weather one. met up with the rest of the runsters at Gisburn. good turn out, and after a short brief we were setting off, then nice of Trev and Deeps to join us !
a good mix of roads to follow, and some really good 'slower' twisties to enjoy. lunch stop at the Black Sheep brewery!! nice food shame about not being able to sample the ales!
departed for the short but another enjoyable roam to Skipton to finish. decided to join the Macs for the runs south down to M1, think it was a good choice, as m/way had no real problems with traffic maintaining a good pace, (probaly not like M6 )
great to meet up with you all again,
Thanks again to George for a super weekend, and for the company en routes.
see you all at the next one.

Well, a grand weekend all round, from my early start on Saturday to meet up with Roger in Nuneaton & then Roger at the M6 services, we made our way in good time to the start for the Pop to Pop's Saturday bimble. Ian made the meet on his Royal Enfield 500 . Not a very direct route, we made our way West. Scorching weather & we all arrived at Pop's, drank all his pop, & off we went for our lunch . The cruise along the prom at Blackpool was not the most sane decision by our trusty run leader but we survived the experience to emerge back into biking country, & were delivered safely to our hotel. Pops, being of local knowledge, took the opportunity to give us the slip in Blackpool & bunk-off home early. Saurday evening was fun - though as we knew that Bob & Fern were at the hotel, it came as a surprise to me & Ian that we seemed to be the first at the bar. In due course they, along with Mac, Debs & Adam, & Roger & Roger joined us. Anyway, we decided a walk was in order, into the metropolis to seek further refreshments & food. (All of us except Roger & Roger who, it seemed, wanted an 'early night' ) George met us at the pub & through the course of the evening my lack of swimming skills was discussed. Thereafter, I was directed back to the hotel via the canal towpath . Ian did not keep me awake all night . In the morning, we enjoyed endured the complimentary breakfast & then set off to the run start. A surprisingly large turn-out congregated. At 10:29, Trev & Dave (with Matt pillion) turned up. Just enough time to turn the bikes around & set off . A great run, some of the roads were quite knaggerie / nudgerie or summat. Great to see Pops joining in for much of the run today. Moments of flying D9's & hooning Royal Enfields ensued. Considered handing back the Enfield when it needed gaffa tape to hold it together, but it was too much fun . Much fun was had generally. At the end, I had the choice of heading back South with the sensible boys & girls, or going to play out with the naughty children. When the naughty children got to Goole & I enquired how much closer to home I was by then, for a moment there I wished I'd not been so easily led. But after a brew at Dave's in Newark I set off homewards at about 8pm. At 10:10 I was on the last leg of my journey home, on the slip road from the B430 onto the A34 when it all went quiet - power lost, I coasted round to about the tightest part of that ever-decreasing-circles slip road, & came to a halt. Oh dear - well at least I wasn't on a motorway ;-). Rang home - "I'll be late". Rang Trev - was about to take fine diagnotic advice from his remote counselling service for exhausted & stressed-out motorcyles. Oddly at this point, the D9 burst into live & pleaded with me to take it home. I obliged, arriving home a little after 10:30. Overall, a very enjoyable weekend. Of course George must now face the fact that we'll expect this to become an annual event . Cheers George, & all who made the weekend . Martin.

On saturday I arrived a little late, mainly due to me hooning the Hobgoblin enfield and forgetting to look at the sat nav or signs, so thanks for the guys for waiting for me, I took the enfield just to see what it would be like on a run, I thought it would really struggle, but being an adventurer I still took it, and I have to say that I was impressed, on the roads we used it was fantastic fun, and seemed well able to keep up most of the day, Thanks to Martin for letting me have the bed next to the wall, George for the excellent runs and the back markers for their sterling work, especially as I got lost on Sunday going out of Hawes, thanks to Mac for that and the tour of Burnley's satanic mills, great to see good friends old and new, it was a fantastic weekend!

Maybe he'll come back to play, when he's learnt how to go around corners. Oh and not try to bully his way past at 'T' junctions ;-)

Sorry for the delay in posting this - arrived home safe to an avalanche of post, e-mails, answerphone messages and even texts, and Monday wasn't much better. Anyway, happy to add my thanks to George for a great weekend on great roads (apart from Blackpool prom, that is!) And thanks to Roger for letting me share his room, The other overnighters for their company in the evening and morning, and to all the other runsters for making the riding all the more enjoyable.
Arrived home bang on 6 o'clock after a smooth trip down a surprisingly quiet M6 (at least as far as the M58 turn-off) and a brief, coincidental meet with El Bandito for a fag at Charnock Richard.
Most scary moment - following Ian down an A-Road at about 75 and watching his back wheel oscillating about 4" either side of a straight line - as he said "It's exciting to ride" !! Highlight of the weekend - watching from behind as Martin (on Ian's Royal Enfield) overtook Tris (Fireblade), Speighty ('Busa) and IIRC, Mac (Tiger 1050) - ALL IN ONE GO !!! Who says you need 100+BHP to live dangerously ?? And it DID sound wonderful at full chat.
