Well where to start? At the beginning I suppose Dover Saturday morning and it was overcast. Not a good start! Arriving in Dunkirk the weather had cleared and we were up to 22c. More like it. A nice run down to Maubeuge in France for an overnight in the Ibis. Cracking hotel with a secure car park. Recommended! So out for dinner and decided on Burger & Chips but being in France we ended up with.......... No bun and potato rosti's in their place. It worked in a weird way though. And washed down with Leffe Ruby. A fruit tasting beer for the discerning gentleman! That's Mr AliG who was my wingman for the week. Day 2 saw a scorching start and as we were leaving the hotel we were warned that some town centres may be closed as it was Bastille Day!! Bugger. We only had one major town on the list so we set off for Givet. We managed to get there just as the band was tuning up. So we sat for a coffee until they had finished blocking the town up. But they had heard we were coming!! Was a great ride through the Ardennes. Great roads and a quick stop at Francorchamps on the way. Arrived in Monschau, parked up and into the pub. Day 3 was around the local roads. I didn't get chance to get any photos that day but after 4 hours the lads were asking for some bloody motorway because they were tired of bends. Mission accomplished!! Did get a shot of the T-Shirt though Day 4 saw us heading towards the Nurburgring. We had a cracking ride across. While at the garage close to the track some nice local pointed in the direction of an open gate giving us trackside access. Bonus!! While returning to the bikes there was a bit of a to do at the garage. Some guys were attempting to stop folks photographing their car so being the law abiding person I am........... New McLaren I believe it was said! Sounded beautiful though. Then we spied this..... Guy and his wife were on their way back to Switzerland after the Goodwood Festival Of Speed! Good Luck. The Castle Nurburg which suprisingly is where the track gets the name! Day 5 was a 'Do your own thing' day. So I decided Ring - Cochem - Trier - Monschau. I've always fancied the Mosel Valley and I wasn't disappointed. Lot's of riding and not lots of pics. Day 6 was a 3 Countries Run. Germany - Luxembourg - Belgium. Would have gone further but we all know were that leads!! Again beautiful weather, scenery and roads. Again lots of riding so not many pics! Day 7 saw a lot of the crew come home. So my faithful wingman, who had missed the Mosel Valley due to flying to London for a job interview, decided we should do it again in reverse. So we did. Another superb run. And a final night in Zum Haller watching fly fisherman searching for 'Schnitzel Fish' All in all a brilliant week away. I can recommend the whole area and there is no way you could get bored riding the roads around that region. And only 3 hours off the ferry!

Nice report Matt. Couple of lads I know have just come back from a ride to the Sachsenring GP. One had a Honda NTX700 t'other a Bmw 1200s, stopped in the equivalent of a German Ibis overnight and disc locked/ chained together both bikes. Woke up in the morning to discover both bikes had been nicked!
