Idle is a little over 1,000 for me. And... now let me work this out:
At 40 in 6th revs are 3,000, so at 60 they will be 4,500.
In 5th I think it's around the 5,000 mark.

Haynes has 1150 to 1250 up to '95 and 1200 to 1300 '96 on. The engine labours a little at 1000 I find. Set up when the engine is nice and hot.

Yup idle is best around 1200.....and at 60 your in the 4000-4500 bracket which is the setting for vibrate...better to kick it down a gear at 60 and up the revs ...feels so much better

Grum.

Grum. You can achieve a lot with self adhesive draught excluder foam when it comes to fairing/screen/clock rattles. The fact that our sister company makes the stuff and I get it for the asking also helps. The other place to look for a rattle at the front of the bike is - - - - - at the back. I had an annoying fairing rattle which turned out to be a loose spacer on my luggage rack, and another which was the little tail piece at the back of the seat, above the back light.

A slow tickover can cause the cam chain to slap around so its better to be running a bit quick than a bit slow.
