Hi All,
Had a strange problem the other day:-
Came to start the bike after 3 weeks of none use, its kept in the garage, and coverd up, always starts 1st time!
Ignition on, choke on, pushed the starter and it fired up, ran for about 2 seconds then bogged down and died, wouldn't restart, just turned over. Thought I might have flooded it so left it a while and tried again, still just turned over not even attempting to fire up.
Checked all four plugs, all sparking ok but not wet with petrol as I expected. Turned the fuel tap to the prime position, still wouldn't start, just turning over, put the fuel tap back to "on" and started poking around the fuel pump area, still would't start, got pished off and went inside for a cuppa.
When I came back out to it, it started first time! alot of white smoke out of the exhaust, which cleared after about a minute. Took it out for a ride, no problems and it started the next day 1st time as usual.
Sorry for the rambling story, but I just wondered if anyone has any idea what might have caused it?
Thanks in advance.

Ive experienced this with a doner bike I bought in November...the battery went flat very quickly and all I got was a couple of coughs and splutters..I tried it with the jump leads off the car and still no joy...I was only firing it up before stripping it down so I gave up and carried on with the repairs on my bike instead.....Im wondering if it could be petrol in the jets which has gelled and blocked them....Ill find that out soon enough as I intend to strip the entire bike and rebuild it but Ill be interested to see what others say it may be..

A weak battery can mean no spark. Leave it for a while and the battery recovers enough to start the engine.
Too much fuel floods it. Leave it for a while, some fuel evaporates or liquifies, mixture improves & engine starts with lots of smoke.
