Hi all,
I need some new tyres for my L reg XJ600 Diversion. I have battleaxes front and rear at the moment and they are very old and in the wet its like riding on glass. Its like this in the dry too!
Can anyone advise the best tyre for them and the best priced place to get them from? I do a 20 mile round trip to work, and have a choice of either dual carriage way Yaaawn or country roads. Yum!
I have a set of heated grips. Which are actually Yamaha ones! they are being fitted end of this month, ready for the sun! Bought them for a fiver! Getting them fitted.
I also have a nasty time of my visor fogging up on the inside of my visor when it rains. Can anyone advise how to stop this from happening? My Bone Dome is a Caeberg Trip.
Need to get my Divvy sorted as fuelling my twin cam 2.0L estate is killing me! Plus I like upsetting M3s!

I've recently replaced my Caberg (Justissimo) visor with a Bob Heath replacement, with anit-fog coating on the inside (£10 cheaper too). It works! But I replaced mine because the visor was scratched anyway - before that I just sprayed/wiped the inside with anti-mist spray - lasts a couple of weeks at least. Washing-up liquid polished-in also works, just about as well as the bought spray.

Hi The Battlax is an excellent choice for the Divvy but they are bit dated. The Michelin Pilot Activ is a much more modern tyre which according to other XJ600 users grips just as well, wet or dry, but they are £20 or so cheaper per tyre and they last longer. When I was out your way I found Micheldever Tyres in, er, Micheldever very good. Ride in Ride out service. www.micheldever.co.uk/ If they are not convenient, if you say exactly where you are someone here might know someone nearer. Incidentally, I rang Michelin recently about Pilot Activ tyres on the Diversion XJ600 and the recommended pressures are 29 front and 36 rear (same as Yamaha official recommendations) which is less than the Battlax's rather high 36/42. Excellent! Thanks for the tip on the Washing up liquid m40man, I shall try this. I notice that Bob Heath also do a spray as well. Its pay day today so will do the washing up liquid bit first!
I will also have a look for some prices for Michelin Pilot Activ's and some Maxxis Supermax.
Micheldever are near enough, and another really good place is Elliots Motorcycles in Cricklade. And they are very good. If no one has ever used them.
While my bike is having its MOT later they are going to put the heated grips on for me.
Strangest thing is that sometimes when I start my bike I get a large knock like something has stopped the engine from turning and when you press the start button nothing happens. Very strange. Its sometimes followed by the smell and visible dripping of fuel from the top front part of the engine.

I notice that Bob Heath also do a spray as well. They do - & theirs worked the best I've found. (Currently got some Motrax equivelant & it's rubbish by comparison. Hopefully won't need it for a while now, if the anti-fog on the new visor doesn't wear off too quickly).

Very strange. Its sometimes followed by the smell and visible dripping of fuel from the top front part of the engine. That sounds like your fuel tap is leaking as well as your float valve, hydraulic locking an engine with fuel can have dire consequences for it, as well as diluting the engine oil!
