Are these usually a pig to fit? Mine's never fit properley, so I've always had in forced down with a couple of bits of wood under the tank, but I doubt thatey're a factory fitted item! Or is there an alternative?

I've had two 600's and neither of the airboxes were difficult to fit. Sounds like there might be something trapped underneath, or the outlets aren't seating properly on the carbs.

Some red grease on the rubber tubes might help and make sure the breather pipe isnt in the way and throttle cables are routed correctly. The front breather pipe from the rocker cover has to be fitted after the air box is fitted but easier before before its fastened down.

It looks as though the rubbers don't line up with the carbs properly.
I think I'll treat myself to a new one. Thanks everyone.

The carb intake spouts are curved and angled. The filter box has to be eased down in a curve to follow the spouts. But its a perfect excuse for a new bike.

The front breather pipe from the rocker cover has to be fitted after the air box is fitted but easier before before its fastened down. On mine the rocker cover end of that pipe is easy to reach, so I put the pipe onto the airbox before fitting and then do the rocker cover end afterwards. Simples.
