XJ600 Diversion rear shock bottom bolt wont budge. Have removed nut, the bolt wont pull/push/hammer through, have heated, WD40ed even beaten hard with a lump hammer still no movement, think the bolt is rusted solid to the collar that goes through the bottom of the shock, anyone any ideas please?

Same happened to mine. The only way round it was to cut through either side of the bottom eye of the shock with an angle grinder and get a new bolt and bushes from Mr Yamaha.

Aluminium expands as it corrodes against the steel bolt so it can be well stuck. Arc weld onto the bolt head - get it glowing hot - can help but eventually Bob's method is the only sure fix.
If going for arc weld disconnect battery, rectifier/alternator and ignition control box to protect the electronics

Thank you for the advice. Finally got the bolt out having heated, tightened, loosened and hammered for about 3 hours!! now to find a decent s/h replacement shock..........

While you have it stripped, get the engine mount bolts out as well and replace with a good anti-seize paste. Nuts & Bolts (Fastensers) factors often sell stuff that's better than copaslip and cheaper.

Head in the sand works for me as well. If the engine mounts are solid my arc welding trick is unlikely to help, but they might still move with some heavy hammers. Then clean and replace with proper anti seize. See it as preventive maintenance.
