A friend of a friend of a friend has a Diversion 900 and the two centre cylinders are running exceptionally hot and the bike not running well when it warms up.
The friend of the friend has stripped the bike down and notice the shims need doing and the carbs were unbalanced (and he is correcting this).
Before he rebuilds it all and find it still carries on, is there anything else to look for?
Thanks in advance.

needs to look at the mixture, methinks - those two sound like they're far too lean. Are you able to adjust the needle position on the divvy carbs if so, might be worth raising the needles a notch on those two pots and see if it improves things. ?Check the mixture screws (obviously) - sometimes the settings are different for centre cylinders.

Maybe running weak on the middle cyclinders. How does he know it's running hot - discoloured pipes?

Maybe running weak on the middle cyclinders. How does he know it's running hot - discoloured pipes? Dunno. Just what my friend said his friend had had explained to him by his freind. You're right. If only I had a friend that was off work on Friday, like me, that I could do something intersting with on that day. I'd even let them stay at my house Thursday night and get the beers in. Shame really. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

"Dunno. Just what my friend said his friend had had explained to him by his friend." (1) Its like the old 'chinese whispers' thing where the story gets 'subtly' altered by each person who relays it. It will probably turn out his back box is loose. HTH, Ady ;D (1) typos corrected to save Reaper a job ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Once the shims are done and the carbs balanced then start investigating the mixture etc. Have a look at the colour of the plugs and see what they are showing as this will give a good guide to what is happening.

Poor mixture on the middle cylinders .
Also check if they don't suck up air somewhere (between carbs and cylinder)
False air it's called in flemish (don't now the english name for it)
