Looking at the sparkly new forum calendar, reveals no event currently planned for the month of July. I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile me arranging a Sunday run around the best roads and scenery the Yorkshire Dales National Park has on offer. The route I'm considering is about a 110 mile loop commencing in Gisburn in the Ribble Valley. Riding out to Settle, Ribble head viaduct and northwards to Hawes before heading east towards Leyburn, stopping at the tea rooms at Bolton castle before Leyburn. Continue eastwards to Masham for a lunch stop at the Black Sheep brewery. Following lunch, a scenic run back to Skipton via Pately Bridge and Grassington. I'm aiming at Sunday 14th July, before the commencement of school holidays to prevent clashes with family holiday plans. Gisburn has some excellent b&b's, a fuel station and a very good village pub. All within walking distance from each other. Any interest?

I should think so, more opportunities to get out the better . Every chance I'd be able to do it .

Mebbe.
It might be a last minute decision for me, depending on whether the band gets a gig, but Gisburn's only 59.7 miles from me so I'll see what gives.
I like the bit about " before the commencement of school holidays to prevent crashes "

This is gods own country and would make a superb run. July and August are always tricky months for us so difficult to make a long term commitment but if it goes ahead, don't be suprised if we turn up.

I'll try and create a sign up posting when I return from work. We meet at the village cafe, "The delicious deli", this is situate right on the corner of the A59 and the A682 at the western end of the village. The access road to Gisburne Park Hospital directly across the road has unrestricted parking sufficient for our needs. We leave at 10:30am for the run, allowing time for distant attendees to grab a bite of breakfast at the Deli if required. Anyone wanting a good b&b have a couple of choices. Park House Hotel, about 100m from the Deli. 01200 445269. White Bull Inn, about 50m from the Deli. 01200 445155. Anyone in need of a patch of grass to pitch a tent is welcome to use the grassed area next to my home. We should complete the circuit before 4pm at the Little Chef at Skipton. You can disperse from here after a brew. those wishing to not carry luggage on the run can leave at my home and collect after we leave Skipton. It's a further 10 miles.

And there's more... I've had a message from Pops. If, he's not well enough to ride out with us, he'd love anyone wanting to attend on Saturday to join me with a lunch time run to the Fylde coast to pay him a visit. We'd leave Gisburn Deli at 11am via the beautiful Forest of Bowland to meet up with him. Lunch on the coast has got to be at one of the top fish and chip shops. We should be back by 3:30pm.

Surprised that there Dah-Dit hasn't been on, pointing out the irony of a Yorkshire Dales run starting from Lancashire

He's probably aware that Gisburn was in Yorkshire until politicians messed around with boundaries back in 74. in fact on still frosty nights we can still faintly hear the Yorkshire battle cry....... How much!
