.........under and over the Millau Viaduct.
A five day adventure on the bike taking in the Lot Gorges, Cantal and the Tarn Valley.
A truly great ride but the camera gave up the ghost. >:
Another time, must go back for more Roquefort!

out of interest, any idea on how much you spent on fuel once you got there? been looking at a number of routes in RIDE magazine.

be useful to know if Pilgrim agrees with my Bro about French fuel.
Bro says. there is a lot of low octane stuff that states it "can" be used in place of 95 RON. It wont mention the considerable loss of power and consumption goes high. Bro says always use the high octane its less money per mile.

biblebasher, my accountant tells me we spent around 100 Euros on the trip, about 1125 miles (1812 kms.) We were paying between 1.56 to 1.69 Euros per litre for SP95. The higher prices were at local garages as opposed to supermarkets and it was more expensive further South.
CD, I've never put other than SP95 (SP is 'sans plomb', no added lead BTW) so I can't confirm your Bro's thoughts. I did have one duff tankful once. The bike ran slightly rough and lacked usual power/go. I think it was bobh who highlighted that in supermarket fuel, IIRC.
One further figure to note was consumption. My last tank ran 298 kms. to reserve. That's 4.5 l/100 kms as the French state it or 61 mpg! That"s with tank bag, soft panniers and top box and 2-up.

Bro has been across France (north-eastern side) many times as he used to live near Turin. He's done it on MZ250, Div600, CBR600 and Alfa 156 diesel. He always takes some octane/certane booster because a fill with poor fuel can mean getting stranded. The MZ was especially susceptible.

I've had no real concerns. The problem seems to be the MZ? Mixture too lean and that was 2-stroke?

The Millau bridge is well worth the visit and ride over. Luckily for us we only need to travel 75 miles to get there and try to include it a couple of times a year in ride outs. Like you I use SP95 all the time and have not had a problem so far in the 5 years I have had the bike here. I normaly get 220 miles from full to fuel light and that is with two up and touring baggage.

The bridge was on our 'must do' at the end of our 'Routes des Grande Alpes' trip and it was outstanding. Luckily we did the tour bus trip under and through the bridge piers and got some great pics. The following day we were going to go across and back before heading north and home. The mist was so thick it would have been a waste of time, so off we went to Aubenas.
