Hi & welcome to the Stones Revisited Run details thread ! A run through Oxfordshire & Wiltshire, including taking in the Avebury stone circle: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avebury.... & Stonehenge .... It seems a very long time since the Stones Run, in 2005. So I thought that maybe it's times for a revisit . (If anyone actually remembers that run, there will be no need to tell me that this year's run isn't a carbon copy . ) Saturday 11th August there will be a short afternoon bimble for those arriving in time, leaving the Volunteer at 3pm, returning approx 7pm. Saturday night entertainment at the Volunteer Inn, just outside Grove, Wantage, from 7pm: www.hooky.co.uk/content/our-pubs/volunteer-inn-grove.ashxFood served until 9pm, nice beers, M40Man's Aunt Sally challenge with prizes (subject to it not pouring with rain!). There's also a dart board & pool table for the competitive sorts & rumours of a 50th Birthday Party there on the same night, with a stripper ! Sunday 12th August meet again at the Volunteer for breakfast, with a run start of 10:30 to take us out onto the B roads of Oxfordshire & Wiltshire, with the expected leg stretch breaks & lunch stop, returning to the Volunteer for around 4pm. Breakfasts are £5.00 to include tea or coffee, or for the gannets out there, a large breakfast with tea or coffee is £7.00. There are rooms at the Volunteer, along with plenty of local B&B's starting from around £30 a night, & limited camping at mine. PM me if you need any particular help with accommodation & I'll try to help. Sign-up sheet here: diversionclub.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=clubrunsignups&thread=17945

Thanks - am hoping it will be straightforward - am guessing that putting the fairing back on is the fiddliest part. Refitting and torquing cooler should be easy.

I'm in.
The Volunteer doesn't have any rooms left, so I am booked into the Bell for Saturday night. According to Bing maps, that is about 20 mins walk away.

That's right - You can leave your bike at mine after checking-in, as the bell in Wantage doesn't have great parking for bikes (if you can squeeze-in at all). I'll PM my address . I might introduce you to Aunt Sally .

In case anyone is still making their minds up ...
The lady at the bell told me that she has two rooms left, with 4 single beds in each.
Their phone number is 01235 763718, and the address is 38 Market Place, Wantage, OX12 0AH.

A correction to the above - having checked location on Bing maps, I noticed that it didn't tally very well - it wasn't close to Market Place. There does seem to be a Bell at Grove, but I am booked into the Bell at Wantage.
The address above is correct, except for the postcode - should be OX12 8AH.
I was given the phone number by the Volunteer, so I guess the Wantage one is better?
Bing maps now says the distance is about 2 1/2 miles - about 45 mins walk. Should be sobered up before I get to bed.
Martin - thanks for the parking offer. Will see you on Saturday week.

.... I was given the phone number by the Volunteer, so I guess the Wantage one is better? The correct guess would be that they are run by the same family . (The other Bell, actually in Grove itself, doesn't do rooms.)

is this a total contradickshun ;D Welcome To The Shoulder of Mutton, Real Ale Pub & Vegetarian Restaurant Sorry to disappoint folks, but we're drinking at the Volunteer. Maybe I'll take you all for an early pint at the Mutton if you're on your best behaviour . It's nice that Clive has fond memories of his time at the Mutton though - I can't remember too much about it !
