Thanks for that Welshy, quite a lotto read though. Ok, it seems to me the article is saying you need to use bike oil because your clutch will slip and because the air/oil cooled bike engines run hotter. However there are also cars with wet clutches available and air cooled cars. There are very highly tuned cars and very low tuned bikes. It's a pretty obscure web site. I wonder if this guy is just quoting the same old myths. Blending oil according to the number of road wheels the vehicle has seems a bit hit and miss to me. Why don't car oils have 'not to be used with wet clutches on them'.

always used 10/40 GTX since I noticed that M/C oil cost twice as much. Change it twice as often is better IMHO.
Never had a problem and my cam looks like that photo too.
Use straight 40 on my '64 Triumph, but if you put that near the clutch (in the primary case) it slips like buggery.
That's the only time I've ever had a clutch issue caused by the oil.
But I will change if the evidence suggests - I always buy Tesco petrol, but last week went to BP!

Works fine , look at this camschaft after 100.000km No pitting, no coloration, no wear at all What does that prove? There was no pitting, coloroation or wear on my Divvy 600 after 60k miles.
