This is going well then Pmsl :-) Details being finalised, but Andy & I are meeting Roger at Kilmarnock at 12:00 midday. Short break, then leaving to meet Al near the ferry. 2pm ferry & away we go ..... Seems pretty simple . Anyone else is welcome to join us either at Roger's PremierInn at Kilmarnock between 12 & 12:30, or later for the 2pm ferry from Gourock to Dunoon, thereafter some nice twiddly-diddly roads for the final leg to Oban. Expecting to arrive Oban between 5 & 6pm I think - not that it matters, 'cos we're on holiday .

It's all about you... I agree it should be, but alas not. So, everyone else has compromised on their plans in order to arrange this meet up. You in or not ?

I presume you guys are aware of the cut price ferry tickets available for your crossing? There is a small store/offlicence in the village about 3/4 of a mile past the terminal at Gourock that sell them. It saves a couple of quid for each crossing. It's where the locals purchase their tickets. I recall it was called Pauls food and wine, 94, Shore Steet, Gourock.

I know that used to be the case, but since CalMac no longer offer a car ferry service on the same route, any discounts seem to have disappeared . I must remember to check the current situation, but I think those cheapie tickets are no more. What I have found with the Western ferries is that if you buy your ticket on board, they quite often won't bother charging for the bike, which makes it cheaper than the "discount" ticket would have been! It seems to depend on who is selling the tickets on board at the time . Full fare is £4.10 per rider/passenger, and another £4.10 for the bike.
