Hi everyone.my names Mick, and i'm from Lincolnshire. I've just bought myself a 1991 XJ600,and so far despite all the obvious rattles and noises from an old bike,i'm fairly impressed with her.Mind you this is my 1st big bike,as I only passed my test on Friday. I have one question that hopefully someone will be kind enough to answer for me.What is the fuel ecenomy like?I only ask as i've done 70miles on it since yesterday and the fuel guage is showing half way between 3/4 and half a tank.I'm guessing this ia about right for a bike of it's age. Regards. Mick

Regards. Mick Welcome to another yellowbelly Ridden carefully , you should get about 140/150 before reserve on your divvy 6. I'm intrigued that you say you have a fuel gauge on it though , d6's don't as a rule, unless someone as managed to fit one?, the usual fuel monitor is to zero the trip meter when you fill up and start looking for a fuel stop from 130 miles on. Welcome again, regards, Trev.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'm also lead to believe that the pre-divvy XJ's also have a tad more HP on them.I'm told mine should have 72HP. A fellow yellow bellie hey Trev.I actually live in Lincoln itself. regards Mick

Thanks for the welcome folks. Trev can you recommend anywhere in Lincoln for tyres mate?I've just been checking mine, and I think i'd better change them as it looks like they were made on 2001. I don't think I can afford to change both at the same time.So should I do rear or front 1st?If it helps the current tyres are Bt45. Thanks Mick

Thanks Mick With tyres I usually buy 'em online and get my local garage to fit 'em, if you do go that way remember they'll charge less for fitting if you take the wheels in to them. As for replacing front or rear first, depends on the condition of either, if one is obviously knackered it's a no brainer. Tyre deals can often be had for buying a pair, have a good look around on t'interweb. BT 45's are my tyre of choice for the 600' but have a search around on here and you'll see folks like different makes, as they say, tyres are a personal preference.
