OK having bought a GPS with 3.5mm outlet, and after a very nice man from the YDC loaded a decent SatNav programme onto it, I have entered the confusing field of which speakers to buy. I intend to rig a permanent power lead and audio lead from the GPS mount, under the fuel tank to under the seat. My question is, do any of you nice people have a personal recommendation as to which speaker setup to use, there seems to be a very wide range including prices, available on the net. I’m not bothered about a mic in the setup as I usually ride solo and only intend the speakers to be used for the GPS. Thanks for your help in advance. Dave

Suggest you use one(s) fitted inside the lid, with cable tucked around the rim. I mean flat ones - not in-ear ones which tend to get dragged (hurting ear & them!).
But though I have a Cardo headset with my Tomtom, I generally don't bother with the sound - I like to just glance at the screen occasionally.

Like Martin, I prefer the helmet mounted speakers rather than in-ear monitors I've used cheapo Oxford helmet headsets (which include a microphone FWIW) for years and found them to be fine for fit and sound quality but perhaps not as durable as some others. The wires are very fine and have all the conducting coppers encased directly into the outer insulation so when the strands break (as they inveitably do) you can't strip them back and repair them. I just regard them as disposable and get new ones when they start playing up. www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=oxford+headset&_sacat=See-All-CategoriesIf the link works it should show a selection of the ones I mean for different helmet types HTH

Does any of them will work with a single 3.5mm phono' jack, Roger . Fair point, well made They end in a double plug - 3.5mm stereo jack for the speakers and a smaller one (2.5mm ??) for the mic. If you really don't want the mic. you could cut that part off the double plug. Most of the equipment I've connected to has been able to take the plug at an angle so the small one slips alongside the appliance (eg mp3 player) Where it wouldn't fit in this way I've used a male to female extension lead to extend the jack socket from the player to the headset plug. Hope that clarifies
