....with an Ear Phone port?
Looking for a cheapo Sat Nav that will take a plug-in Ear Phone.
I have a Tom Tom One that I fits on the bike's handle-bars, but I think it's dangerous taking my eyes off the road to glance at it.
Anyone know of a cheaper alternative to the Tom Tom Rider/Zumo that I can plug an ear piece into?

The voiceover is too much of a distraction for me but a rolling map would be handy.

See if you can pick up a used Nokia 5800. They're not a lot of money and are a fantastic piece of kit for use as a Sat Nav.
I upgraded to a new phone about a year ago and now use my 5800 as my sat nav and MP3 player.
It has the added bonus of being an emergency phone if you stick a free PAYG sim in it.
Works great for me.

So I take it that there is no such thing as a GPS unit with the benefit of an ear-phone socket. Bugrit then!

Please accept my apology, I've just read this thread. I purchased one of the Binatone 430's to use on the bike, combined with a waterproof case and mount. This Binatone 430 has the external headphone socket you seek. I opted for the full European mapping unit when they were on offer at £59. direct.tesco.com/q/R.208-4387.aspx

Thanks for the warning Martin. I was able to cancel it on Amazon.
Now I find that the Mobile Phone that I was sent by T-Mobile as a free upgrade a few months ago, a Nokia C5 may do the trick for me!
Being perfectly happy with my present Nokia I have yet to open the C5 box!

The advantage with the cheap sat navs from eBuyer is that they stock models you can put TomTom or many other navigation systems on. They are the successors to the NaviGo's which they first stocked a few years back....

I've still got my Navigo, working fine. It even survived my Superman stunt at LR08. ;D That other site which we cannot link to no longer has the TomTom downloads. But other satnav software options are still there.
