Yes, I bought myself pone of these after some kind person used it to plug a puncture for me when we were in France. Got me home and without losing any pressure.
Like you I did get a new tyre, though the old one was on its last legs anyway. If it hadn't been I'd probably have got it professionally plugged.
The guy who did it said he'd plugged a tyre on his car and it was still going strong at 10,000 miles. But there's a bit of difference between having a flat on a car and having one on the front of a bike, so better safe than sorry, I guess.

Bit bad of them not showing skin protection when using Co2 cylinders.

We carry them on our trips. I haven't used them but others have and they have been very effective. I carry them in the 4X4 for use in remote areas as well as a compressor.
