Ok so Bevs Bandit appears to have been poorly maintained and quite possibly been put away wet on a few occasions. Of course I will get the blame for this so i tried to give it a little tidy up today. 
The tools required were 240 gritt sandpaper 600 gritt and 1200 gritt. Some water, a couple of rags and some brasso.
Some work with the heavier gritt sandpaper was required to flat the surface down as the pitting was quite bad.
I went through the grades of paper before smoothing it out with the 1200 stuff and used plenty of water at this stage.
The last stage was a buff up with brasso and here are the results.
