Someone mentioned this in another thread but I can't remember where, so I can't put his/her name to it, but it is a brilliantly effective fix and I think it should be more widely known.
Left hand grip loose? Then pull it off, spray up the inside with hair lacquer (cheap stuff, better than posh stuff). Push it back on and the next day it is stuck hard.
Lovely job.
If you can't scrounge any off the missus or your mum, a ladies handbag sized can is only about £1 in Sainsburgers.

How do you get your fro in your helmet, if you use all your lacquer on your grips!
I don't know...some people just don't have clue!

Just an additional tip:
Any contact adhesive you use will tend to be squeegeed off the bar as you slide the rubber on. Use a bit of very coarse emery cloth and roughen the surface of the chrome in a "round the bar" direction. The adhesive is trapped in these micro grooves, and you get a better bond.

havetried this on my grip and dont seem to work, what am i doing wrong ? Just enough to 'lube' the grip's passage onto the bar, then leave it to dry at least overnight. But it might just be that your grip / bar fitting is a bit loose, in which case wrap a little tape round the bar to fatten it up a bit, then repeat the exercise of fitting the grip. Out of interest - which are you having a problem with, throttle side or clutch side?EDIT: Seen your other post, throttle side! This is usually the likely one to give grief. Try some tape.

Its the throttle side giving me grief. Or rather its been acceptable for 2 years but lately it slips around and I cant get full throttle.

My personal fave is to use the rubber patch glue froma puncture repair kit, holds grips on perfectly. Used to use it all the time when mountainbike racing, never had a grip come loose.

I tried hair spray, but if anything it was worse the next day. I ended up with some one-pack car window polyurethane mastic that I'd had for my car's sill skirts. Its done a fine job but that grip wont ever be off again in one piece!! I kept the throttle sleeve to handlebar clean with PVC tape. The grip really pushes out any excess sealant so be careful.

Make sure its not surgical spirit - thats got a few % castor oil.
Rubber solution should be ideal you could also try the black stuff they use in tyre garages to seal tyres onto pitted rims.
