- Brakes
Sintered brake pads and braided hoses improve braking dramatically. A lot of members choose the HH rated pads for the front. - Centre stand
One or two owners have found problems with the centre stand, and have ended up having to get them welded. Check that it is not twisted, or the bike may lean away from you when putting it on the centre stand. - Clutch
Clutch rattle, same as the 600, but can be improved by using a synthetic oil (e.g. Silkolene Pro4). There is some debate over using fully synthetic oil because of possible clutch slip, but this should not be a problem if you don`t use fully synthetic oils that are made for cars. - Engine
Vibrations can be expected, same as on the 600, but they tend to happen lower down the rev range, at about 3000 to 3500rpm. - Front forks
There are no drain screws for the front forks on the 900, so they have to be removed to have the oil changed - Fuel consumption
Between 43 and 52 miles per gallon have been typically reported by members, which gives a range of about 200 miles on a tank full of petrol. - Fuel gauge sender
These apparently stop working at about 15,000 miles, but if caught soon enough can be fixed. See the "Links"section for a link to a site which gives full
[/li][li] Luggage
If you have a Givi Wingrack fitted to a 900, this will most likely have to be removed before you can get the side panels off. They CAN be removed without, but it is a bit tricky to do so without causing damage.
The genuine Yamaha luggage kits are made by Krauser and you will have to drill the side pannels to fit it.

A recommended aftermarket fitment is the "Super-flip" screen available from Skidmarx, for around £42. See Pooh's pictures for details.

Which is where I got mine from as I'd found them first.
The ones that Padster found at simplybearings.co.uk look right but are 17x40x13.3 .05 bigger on the width.
I suppose they'd fit if you threatened them with a hammer......
They're all better than the price Max had quoted for the Yamaha at £45 plus VAT (Eek!)
So if you've lost your bearings you now know where to go.
