Hi All, I'm about to hard-wire my Zumo to the FJR and to save me messing around with the multimeter, wondered if anyone had found a switched-supply that I can tag onto for the Zumo?
It's an 07 model btw.
Thanks,
Tom.

On my Divvie 900 (I know not an FJR) the switched wire was possibly too thin for my needs and I didn't want to solder in a branch so I used a scotch-lock branch it to switch a relay and took the main supply straight off the battery. I now have a handy power supply for all sorts of stuff that goes off when I turn off the ignition.

Yes, but WHICH switched wire is the easiest to get to and what are the colour-markings? Regards, Tom. Oh bugger, you don't have an FJR

Try the feed to the accessory socket.

Will you need a relay?

Try the feed to the accessory socket. put a plug on the end and plug in to the accessory socket, or fit an accessory socket near the clocks, thats how i fitted mine to the Gs, so i can remove to store in seconds, just leaving the ball mount

I'm prepping my bike for a trip, and have fitted a 7.5 Amp/hr gel battery under the seat near the light cluster at the back - with foam for damping and held in place by the rubber band from the u-lock . I've got a towsure charging relay wired to the battery and once the alternator starts kicking out 14v+ it connects up the battery to the main charging system.
ie. when the engine aint running it's a completely separate battery.
Then I run my accessory socket off that and I have a power source which can run things while the bike is not running, and there is no risk of running the main battery down (unless the relay sticks open - but then that's the same for a switched power source anyway). Good for using this handy electrical water heater for making a quick cuppa when you're out on the road. When the bike is running, it's just like having a big battery to charge, but not too much extra load, cause the overall voltage is still about 12.5v.
I can only fit a single battery under the seat on this bike, but on my last one I had two of them wired in paralell to give me a 14 amp/hr battery - which was good enough to run speakers, mp3 player, battery charger for digital camera, GPS charger, pda for about 3 days while parked up (assuming you have low power rewuirement devices). Mind you I was living on the bike at the time, so a good power source was required.
I've never had to try it, but I suspect if you got into trouble you might be able to start the bike off the battery. I'm not sure it would have the cranking ampage for it, but at least it would give you a live ignition to bump with.
