Hi, I just noticed the other day my tail lamp wasnt coming on at all on my Givi Box. So I took it off and noticed that one of the contact pins on the underneath of the box had got stuck in. It didnt want to come out at all. So I rang Givi and they sent me the replacement part that I needed, which is the little cone shaped thing inside the box, with a cable coming from it. The problem is, that that cone bit has a small inset notch on either side of it, what tool do you use to be able to undo it. Ive tried various things, but nowt seems to work. Does anyone have any advice please ? Thanks

Hi Lt, if I remember correctly the cone shaped thing pushes into the box from the bottom, as two small inset notches that "click" into place when pushed through. While the box is on the rack (for support) would have thought you could cut notches off from inside box with a sharp narrow bladed chisel, even lightly tapping if you need to. If you manage to do that should just push out when you take box off rack.
Let us know how you get on.
Regards Trev

Well so far, I have only managed to get the covering cone off of this fitment inside the box. The rest of that assembly is obviously held into place by some sort of click bit that goes into place when it is pushed into the hole from the underneath of the box. But you try getting the blighter out ! It's all well and good GIVI making all the spare parts under the sun to replace these bits, but its getting them out thats the worse part. So its off to shop on Weds to get a pro to do it................Hopefully !!

Yep, you probably could drill the old fitment out if you wanted to I suppose ? But you shouldnt have to do that. Have you actually seen this part that I am talking about ? Drilling out could be pretty dodgy anyhow as theres the 2 metal pins that come up through it. It's certainly not a job im gonna attempt, and if I ruin a £180 top box on top then I aint gonna be best pleased. Its far easir taking it to my mechanics on Weds who will sort it, at least if the screw it up then its their problem not mine ;D

yep, fitted one on my top-box. Prolly easier for you to take to the mechanic.
Cheers Trev
