Hallo. I have seen pictures on the net where mirrors on XJ900 Diversions have been moved from the handlebars to the fairing. See this link: www.xs4all.nl/~kimkodde/yam090d.htmlBike 2. I want to do the same on my XJ600S Diversion 1998, but I need help on how to do it. Pictures and so on. I hope some of you will be able to help me. Best regards Anders Jensen, Denmark.

I have a 600 and a 900. The 600 fairing is narrower so its worth asking a friend to hold an R1 mirror on the faring to make sure you can actually see behind you and that the mirrors have enough adjustment to suit the fairing shape. The stalks might be too short.

I will try holding up the mirrors before fit them to the fairing. My worries are about how to make the mirrors stable enough on the fairing. They have to be fastend to something behind the fairing don't they? Some metalbracket or something like that.
Anders.

I've not seen how its done, but would expect it to use a metal backing plate that traps the plastic bodywork between an underplate and the mirror base. The snag could be finding enough space under the fairing that can take the underplate and then enough room for you to attach the nuts/bolts and tighten them.
Another issue is if you drop the bike the mirrors could rip the fairing apart. The plastic is around £400 (€600) from Yamaha. Another point you'll need to check out it might be ok.
Have you looked at "Stadium style" bar end mirrors? A Google search will find some quite easly.
I think they look cool, but dont go buying anything or drilling the fairing until 100% sure they will fit and work properly.
Has anyone seen a video cam rear view "mirror" with a screen that could be mounted above the speedo/tacho clocks. That would be flash. :-)

I knew drop my bike...... Point taken but you would have the same problem with any other bike, that has mirrors on the fairing wouldn't you? I've just bought 2 mirrors from a Fazer 600 and I think they will fit. Now I just have to make a big og solid enought platform under the fairing to hold the mirrors in at solid position. Anders,

That would be flash. :-) Yeah that would be flash... and it can't be that difficult... As a rookie I really miss the center mirror one has in a cage... The camera should be easy the main trouble i reckon would be the screen... anybody know where one can get a CHEAP LCD screen that will take a composite video signal to fit on the bars?

Looks good. Well done. I'd quite fancy something like that on the 900.

Nice one Anders - an excellent job - could you tell us how they perform on the road. Any vibrations - any blind spots etc.
good luck

The mirros work superb! Small vibrations at idel speed but nothing on the freeway to Copenhagen to weeks ago. If anything I would say they work better than the originals when et comes to vibrations.
Feel free to e-mail me on amj77@mail.dk

I know it's not as flash as a video camera & monitor on your bikes dash, but I've seen that the Reevu guys make a motorbike version of their rear-view bicycle helmet (used to work in a bike shop & a few customers swore by them - never tried one myself tho I admit). www.reevu.com/ (don't seem look too much bulkier than your average helmet, were quite pricey from memory tho) Nice work on the fairing mounted mirrors - look very neat!
