Hi
i've just replaced my carbs with a new set, as the old ones were siezed (mixture control)
i tore down the new ones, cleaned the jets, passages ways etc etc. and checked over seals diaphrsms etc.
Now put on bike, i noticed that cyl 2 (2nd one from the right if u r sitting on the bike) is not firing, all the others are great.
thers compression, a spark and fuel in the bowls.
any other ideas? im stuck. other than rip them apart again.
thanks wookey

Hmm We do our best Blow out all of the jets on the faulty carb and check the float level is correct. Also confirm the plug cap is ok.

Quick question - is cyl 2 not working all the way through the rev/throttle position range or is it just at tickover? Also does it fire when the choke's on? If it does seem to work once you put a fair bit of throttle on and/or if the choke is used, it's almost certainly the pilot jet. These are very small and can easily clog up with jellyfied petrol after a few weeks of non-use, and are a b*** er to clean out completely. I finally managed to get mine clear by squirting carb cleaner through and blowing with air.

yeah i rebuilt them, cleaned all jets, removed mixute jets and reset. plenty of fuel in the bowls so can only assume dirty sliders now.

Not sure if you can get at the pilot jets on the D6 by just taking off the float chamber bowl - don'r have my Haynes for that model any more. But if you can it shouldn't be too difficult, you just need a sharp screwdriver to make sure you don't mess up the slot (I'm sure you know this, but others may also want to get info from this thread).
Good luck - Bob
