making a YICS tool - diamentions conversions

i am looking at home.westman.wave.ca/~jbe/YICS.htm to make a yics tool to do me carbs.

am i right in thinking #6 threaded bar is 3.5mm ? just spent luch hour at b n q etc and the only stuff they got is 4mm!

Now my head has gone blank and i cant remeber the galery diameter so dont know if that will do in stead.

can anyone enlighten me? converting us to mm units is annoying
