When I had mine off and cross brace welded on, then powdercoated , I sealed the top holes too, stops carp getting inside.

Make sure there are small holes in the front of the stand tubes on the bit that sits lowest when the stand is up**. Rain water will always find a way in and these let it run out. I had to take mine off and was surprised how much water was in there!!!
