Clutch pressure plate rubbing

my bike started making a metal on metal rubbing noise? removed clutch cover and found marks on pressure plate where it looks like it was rubbing on clutch cover ,
is this possible and if so what would cause it
ANYONE?
ps while clutch is out i want to do the fix to stop rattle but cant find 5.5mm dowel pin

Things to check -
Clutch basket cover spring bolts have come loose
clutch basket bent?
Clutch basket to gearbox shaft mounting nut is tight?
gearbox bearing has not failed (will the shaft lift?)

For the dowel pin, it's easiest to grind the end off a suitable size drill.
