Hello, my bike is on a L plate 1993, the problem i have got is starting it first thing in the morning or when it has been standing for a while, when i put the choke on it runs at 3500 to 4000 rpm and when i push the choke in a bit it will die , tues morning went to start it, it started ok but when i pushed the choke in it stopped and would not start again, i did notice that 1 and 4 downpipe was warm and 2 and 3 pipes was hot. i had the aa out who said it had flooded but would that cause this problem or do you think it is a coil issue and also can the fast idle be turned down
cheers

It sounds like a coil or sparks issue or the chokes on 1 & 4 carbs are stuck shut.

I don't think the fast idle is adjustable. Both the 600s I've had revved away with the choke right out, so it was a case of getting to the lever as soon as the engine fired up and juggling with it to get a sensible idle speed without the motor dying. But this palaver only lasts for half a minute or so until the engine gets a bit of heat into it.
I'm with CD on the cause of the problem. Certainly if 1 & 4 don't seem to be firing it could be a coil problem - possibly just the l.t. lead to that coil.

There is a choke idle screw which bears onto a cam on the throttle control rod. It might be in the same area as the main idle speed screw.
But take it too slow and the engine can easily flood on full choke.
